Reconstructing craton‐scale tectonic events via in situ Rb‐Sr geochronology of poly‐phased vein mineralization

چکیده

Fault- and fracture-hosted multi-stage mineral assemblages that formed by fracture reactivation fluid migration, constitute archives of the tectonic evolution Precambrian cratons. Complex intergrowth patterns these records often hinder absolute dating mineralization events for geological models. We apply LA-ICP-MS/MS in situ Rb-Sr single crystal growth zones sub-mm-wide vein including illite, K-feldspar, albite, calcite, mica, zeolites, fluorite and/or epidote at three Palaeoproterozoic crystalline bedrock sites over 300 km apart Fennoscandian Shield. The campaign reveals multiple age clusters between ca. 1757 ± 15 355 12 Ma correlating with flow initiated far-field orogens their foreland basin evolution. This new approach reconstructing histories cratons connects micro-scale determinations different fractures regional-scale crustal dynamic responses to events.

Reconstructing Events

When something happens today, anywhere in the world, it will probably be captured on camera. Very likely, it will be captured by many cameras. Increasingly, it will be captured from many perspectives—by security cameras, overhead cameras, mobile users, and social media, as Figure 1 illustrates. This shift toward constant, multiperspective imaging will have a profound influence on how we chronic...

Kimberlites in a Karoo graben of Northern Mozambique: tectonic setting, mineralogy and Rb-Sr geochronology

Kimberlites occur as dykes up to 3 m thick and isometric bodies in the southern explored part of a NE-SW trending Karoo graben across the Mozambique Belt in northern Mozambique. The kimberlites are reported along four NW-SE-trending zones, and one ENE-WSW-trending zone. The kimberlites are macrocrystic hypabyssal Group Ia kimberlites based on their mineralogy and whole rock geochemistry. The ki...

Fabrication of Ti3SiC‌‌2-SiC max phase composites via in-situ and ex-situ synthesis

Recently, a series of three-component compounds with the combination of Mn+1AXn known as Max phases have been considered as a new material. One of the most important features of Max phases, is the self-healing property of them. The main reason for considering Max Phases is a unique collection of unusual properties including their metallic, ceramic, physical, and mechanical properties. One of th...

210Pb geochronology of flood events in large tropical river systems.

Floodplain sedimentation removes particles from fluvial transport and constructs stratigraphic records of flooding, biogeochemical sequestration and other aspects of the environmental history of river basins-insight that is enhanced by accurate geochronology. The natural fallout radionuclide (210)Pb, often employed to date lacustrine and marine sediments, has previously been used to determine f...
